About Dr. Bantugan-Bohan
Dr. Christy Bantugan-Bohan has been licensed as a psychologist in California since 1996. She has over 25 years experience in the field of clinical psychology. She obtained her Bachelors degree in Psychology at the University of California-Irvine. She received her Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology at California School of Professional Psychology-Fresno, which is now known as Alliant University.
For her predoctoral internship, she worked at Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health in Culver City, California specializing in working with the chronically mentally ill. She conducted her postdoctoral internship at New Alternatives-Comprehensive Adolescent Treatment Center in Hillcrest, California. This is a psychiatric residential treatment center for adolescents who had not been successful in other programs. Having the opportunity to work with these very challenging populations has made Dr. Bantugan-Bohan feel confident in working with diverse and complex individuals and their problems.
Prior to having a solo private practice, Dr. Bantugan-Bohan also worked in a group private practice and was employed as a senior staff psychologist at UCSD Outpatient Psychiatric Services. Other settings that she gained experience in were an ADHD clinic for children, group homes for abused children, and San Diego State University Psychological and Counseling Services. Additionally, Dr. Bantugan-Bohan has provided various trainings and presentations on cultural diversity, Pilipino culture, and parenting topics.
Being an avid runner, Dr. Bantugan-Bohan often prescribes physical exercise to her client treatment plans if she finds it would be helpful to them. Physical exercise can be a good coping strategy, a healthy way to decrease stress, and a positive benefit to physical and mental health.
